Cycling nutrition gets the all-star treatment
This is a monster of a paper, with an author list to match.
Louise Burke, Eimear Dolan, Javier Gonzalez, Asker Jeukendrup, Iñigo Mujika, James Morton, Shona Halson and Trent Stellingwerff are among the names behind the new UCI Sports Nutrition Project: Position Statement on Nutrition for Cycling.
Published in the International Journal of Sport Nutrition and Exercise Metabolism, the 27-page article brings together the main messages from a project spanning 54 researchers and 14 topic-specific reviews.
The authors organise their guidance into 10 themes, covering the demands of different cycling disciplines; nutrition for training, adaptation and recovery; race preparation; on-bike fuelling and hydration; physique and energy availability; illness and injury prevention; culinary support, travel and extreme environments; nutrition technology; supplements and sports foods; and considerations for female, junior and masters cyclists.
Throughout, the recommendations account for the different demands of each discipline and the individual rider, while identifying where further research is needed.
For practitioners, there is plenty here to work through.

SiS × Nike: nutrition built around a race series
Science in Sport has announced its role as official performance fuel and hydration partner for the Nike After Dark Tour.

The 15 September announcement describes race-specific packs covering energy, hydration, and recovery for more than 55,000 runners across seven events.
Two recovery formulations sit within the collaboration:

The supporting research cited in the announcement explored perceptions of female sport nutrition.
The delivery model is worth examining. SiS’s live tour hub links runners to 10K and half-marathon fuelling guides alongside event-specific product pages. Education and access sit within the same race journey.

For practitioners and brands, the useful question is how clearly that journey helps a runner turn a nutrition plan into preparation and race-day decisions.
