Dear Performance Nutrition Leaders,
This week: free practitioner hydration tools worth bookmarking, the latest performance nutrition appointments and industry news, plus a look at AI-powered hydration monitoring arriving at the Tour de France.
💡 PRACTITIONER TOOL
The Gatorade Sports Science Institute has practitioner tools sitting free on its site, and they are worth bookmarking.
The Fluid Loss Calculator estimates hourly sweat rate from the change in body weight across a session, with fields for fluid and food consumed, session duration and urine losses if you have them.
The output is a number you can build a hydration strategy around.
The accompanying worksheet is the part most practitioners will actually use, a printable sheet for the pre-session weigh-in, the post-session weigh-out and the fluid and food weights either side.
Their protocol notes are worth reading before you collect anything, particularly weighing in after urinating and before any tape or wraps go on, towelling down properly before the second weight, and making sure any pre-weighed fluid is swallowed rather than rinsed and spat.

💡PERFORMANCE TECH
There is now a hydration sensor on a Tour de France team bus.
Spanish startup Kamleon has announced Team Caja Rural-Seguros RGA as a client, with its urinalysis technology installed in the team's new bus for the 2026 tour.

The company says it will feed real-time data to the team's medical, nutrition and performance staff before and after each stage.
The pitch is friction elimination. A rider identifies at the unit, passes urine as normal, and gets hydration and electrolyte readouts in seconds. Kamleon markets it as the first AI-powered urinalysis platform.

The mechanism isn't published. The category generally runs on conductivity as a proxy for osmolality.
Kamleon classifies its own output as consumer-grade wellness data, stating plainly that the system is not a medical device.
Passive daily data across a whole squad is a real operational win.
